Jakhol

Location

The Duryodhana Temple at Jakhol – at a distance of 20 km from Mori, and on the Har-ki-Dun trek route – has an actual idol of the lord (unlike other temples in the region that are devoid of an idol ) and is treated as a seat of divinity.

Netwar

Location

At Netwar, is a charming temple dedicated to Karna, an ally of Duryodhana. The Jaunsar- Bawar is probably the only region where Duryodhana, villain of the Mahabharata epic, is venerated, and it’s interesting to see Jaun sari villages having beautiful wooden temp les dedicated to Duryodhana, and his allies. Netwar is 11 Kms from Mori, and is the point of confluence of the Rupin Gad (a tributary stream) with the Tons river.

Madhyamaheshwar Temple

Location

Legend has it that the stomach of lord Shiva fell on Madhyamaheswar when Bhima tried to stop the lord from vanishing. A Shiva temple has been built at the place where the body parts of the lord is believed to be fallen and this temple complex at a hovering height of 3490 meters turned to be a busy spot of Shiva devotees.

It takes a tedious trek of 24 kilometers to be at the sanctified premises of Maheswar, but it is really worthy and pay high dividends in the form of picturesque surroundings. The unwinding paths through the lush meadows and woody forests proffers the possibilities of a nice stride, the warmth of which is memorable forever.

Jwalpadevi

Location

Is one of the better-known religious areas of the entire division on the main Pauri-Kotdwar road. A large number of devotees come here during Ashtami (April and October) for pilgrimage. On the Pauri Kotdwar road, the temple is 47 km from Lansdowne and attracts pilgrims mainly during Ashtami in the months of April and October.

St. John’s Church

Location

St. John's Church in Lansdowne is a Roman Catholic Church situated just above the road on the spur below the Forest bungalow and was completed in 1934. It is the only Church of worship in Lansdowne.

On the Mall, the Roman Catholic Church (now St. John’s Church) situated just above the road on the spur below the Forest bungalow was completed in 1934. It reopend on Nov 29, 1980. From then, St. John’s Church became the only Church of worship in Lansdowne and continues till date.

St. Marry’s Church

Location

Construction of the charming St. Marry’s Church, near Tip-In-Top Point, began in 1895 by Colone A.H.B. Hume of Royal Engineers Group and was completed in 1896. St Marry’s Church fell into disuse after 1947 and gradually began deteriorate. The building has now been restored by Garwhal Rifles Regimental Centre and is now a tiny museum with relevant pre-independence photographs and audio visual display of Regimental history.

Tarkeshwar Mahadev Temple

Location

Tarkeshwar Mahadev Temple, located nearby Lansdowne and situates atop of a hill of height 2092 meters, is believed to be one of the ancient holy sites or SiddhaPitas. The main deity is Lord Shiva and many devotees visit this ancient temple to offer prayers and it is believed that the offerings here makes the wishes of the devotees be fulfilled. Mahashivarathri is celebrated annually with grandeur.

Agastyamuni

Location

Augustyamuni is famed for the temple in the name of sage Agastya. The popular belief is that the sage had meditated here for almost one year. This holy shrine at the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand is thronged by thousands of devotees during Baisakhi celebrations.
