Chittorgarh Fort

Location

Chittorgarh fort with the legacy of glorious past and formidable present is the major attraction for tourists in Chittorgarh. The fort is established in a hillock of 300 feet high, spreading over a wide area of 700 acres of terrains. The fort is an architectural marvel, surviving three ravages in the history.

The impressive huge fort encloses the wonderful palaces of Maha Rani Padmini and Maharana Kumbha, Kirthi Stamba, Vijay Stamba and many ancient revered temples. Another attraction in the fort is the Fateh Prakash Mahal, which showcases some of the imposing sculptures.

Bhoraji-ka-Kund

Location

Bhoraji-ka-Kund is one of the famous step wells, near Bundi. The meaning of Kund is tank and such water bodies were constructed in the olden days as a source of water to the drought hit areas of Bundi. It was build in 16th century and attract birds of many species especially after monsoon season. Bhoraji-ka-Kund is surely a must see spot and will definitely impress you by its beauty.

Dhabhai Kund

Location

The Dhabhai Kund is located to the south of Raniji-ki-Baori and is one of the numerous tanks seen in Bundi. Dhabhia Kund is the name given to a step well; which was constructed in the olden days to provide water to the drought prone regions of Bundi. It is fascinating in its geometric construction and has steps that lead to the main tank itself.

Garh Palace

Location

The Garh palace has a number of petite palaces built encircling the central majestic residence. The various rulers of the city built these small palaces. Sitting atop a small hill, most of the portions of the fortress now lie in wreck, but some parts have retained their splendor. A wall encircles the palace premises and makes it seem more like a fort. Rao Balwant Singh commissioned the palace.

The palace has many tales attached to it. Hada Rani was a queen of one of the rulers who ran away from the battlefield. She was so filled with disgust that she chopped off her head and presented it to him upon his entry into the palace.

Raniji-ki-Baori

Location

The Raniji ki Baori, was built in the year 1699 by Rani Nathavati, who was the younger queen of the ruling Rao. She constructed the 165 feet step Raniji-ki-Baori. The step well has a narrow entrance marked by four pillars. Stone elephant statues that face each other’s stand in the corners. Ogee brackets decorate all the archways of 46 m deep Raniji ki Baori, which is reputedly the largest Baori of Bundi.

Shikar Burj

Location

Shikar Burj is another tourist destination in the quaint city of Bundi. Located at a little distance from Sukh Mahal, Shikar Burj is actually an old hunting cottage owned by the rulers of Bundi. The beautiful hunting lodge is located in the sun dappled forests in the city of Bundi.

Umed Singh, who was the ruler of Bundi in the 18th century, withdrew into this enormous tower after he renounced the throne. Located near Sarbagh, Shikhar Burj has now been converted in to a popular picnic spot. Tourists who visit Bundi often flock to Shikhar Burj for an evening getaway.

Devi Kund sagar

Location

Devi Kund sagar is situated 8 km in the east of city. The members of ruling family of Bikaner subsequent to Jet Singh, the great grandson of Rao Bikaji, have been cremated here. On the sides of reservoir of water lie the Royal cenotaphs of rulers of Bikaner dynasty from Rao Kalyan Singhji to last Maharaji Karni Singhji as well as those of their wives and other important members of families. There are cenotaphs (Chhatries) of 22 SATIES of royal family prior to Maharaja Gaj Sigh Ji (1745-1787). There is also one cenotaph of a SATA (male sati) of a ruler.

Gajner Palace

Location

The Royal family of Bikaner has created many numerous architectural marvels in Bikaner. The Gajner palace, often remembered as ‘a jewel in Thar desert', was conceptualized as a summer resort for the royal families.

Maharaja Ganga Singh of Bikaner, upon insistence from his young bride ordered the creation of this amazing palace which stands tall on the embankment of a lake. The palace has been a witness and acted as the backdrop for numerous lavish shoots and grand entertainment. The palace has been tastefully carved in red sandstone and is famous for its intricately carved jharokhas, pillars, and screens.
