Honnemaradu

Location

Honnemaradu is situated on the banks of the backwaters of the Sharavathi river. A big water mass extends up to the Chakra dam. It is about 25 km from Sagara town towards Jog and 10 km from Talaguppa. Indian Institute For Adventure Applications is a training institute situated here which uses adventure as a platform for learning.

Holebaagilu

Location

Holebaagilu is situated on the banks of the Sharavathi River at about 30 km from Sagara. One has to take a diversion from B. H. Road towards Ikkeri Road to get there. The Sharavati backwaters of Linganamakki dam has submerged acres of land here. It is a place of natural beauty. It is situated in Kolur Grama Panchayat Limits. One has to take a "launch" (flatboat) to get across the backwaters to reach the other side where Sigandooru is located. The ride is really enjoyable.

Attur

Location

Attur is a village famed for the church it houses. It is located on the outskirts of the Karkala city. The main attraction of this peaceful and seclude place is the shrine of St. Lawrence, established in 1759 AD with remarkably rich history.

Scenic greenery amidst religious piety, Attur attracts lot of devotees, irrespective of religion, to St. Lawrence church. The Karkol Fest in this church is a major draw. Devotees believe in miracles by the church, with the church performing lots of social activities aimed at common public.

A hundred feet high tower representing the arts of various religions was built in 1997, to showcase the Church's secular culture in accepting people of various belief and faiths.

If you can get off to an early start and if the sky is beautiful with the clouds, take the road to Somwarpet. This 42-kilometer, one-and-half hour drive will surely perk you up. This is the coffee heartland of Coorg. You will pass through some of the finest coffee estates you will ever see. Magnificent trees reaching up to the skies, casting much wanted masses of shade to the coffee plants. It's one great spread of continuous foliage very gloriously prepared in an extraordinary operation by Nature. Mingled with cardamom and pepper as well.

25 kms south east of Chikmaglur town and just 10 kms from the Hoysala capital of Halebid is Belavadi, a place in the district with historical associations.

This ancient village is dotted with temples and shrines, the most outstanding being the Veeranarayan Temple, a fine specimen of Hoysala architecture.

Balehonnur

Location

45 kms to the north west of Chikmaglur is another celebrated pontifical seat of the district, the Shrimad Jagadguru Rambhapuri Veersimhasana Mahasamsthana Peetha.

This matha with mythical connections to Rambha, the celestial dancer as also to the giant Rambhasura, is one of the five great 'panchacharya mathas'.

The Veerabhadra Temple attached to the 'matha' has sturdy metallic images of Veerbhadra and Bhadrakali.

Ganeshwar & Baleswar

Location

Ganeshwar & Baleswar : both 15 km. away from Neem ka Thana on different roads and 80 km. from Sikar via Udaipurwati. Ganeshwar is a pilgrimage as well as a salubrious Picnic spot. The hot sulphur springs here is a major draw. A dip in the spring, it is believed, cures skin diseases. It is an ancient site. Excavations in the Ganeshwar areas have revealed the remains of a 4000 years old civilizations. Close by is Baleshwar, yet another worth visiting site, ponds and old Shiva temple is there surrounded by Aravali Hills

Achalgarh

Location

Achalgarh is an imposing cute village nearby Rajmachi. This exquisite location is renowned for two major attractions the Achalgarh fort and the Achaleshwar Mahadeo placed interior to the fort.

Achalgarh fort, built by Rana Kumbha of Mewar Dynasty during the 14th century temple, is built for watching the movements of enemies and also to have a watch over the surrounding places. The fort with a semicircular arch at the entrance encloses many temples including 15th century Achaleswar Mahadev Temple and 16th century Kantinath temple.

Divegar

Location

Divegar is beach town located ~15 kms from Shrivardhan that is lush an flined with high coconut plantations. There is a temple in Divegar which is built around the golden mask of Ganesha called “Suvarna Ganpati" or "Golden Ganesha”. This was uncovered by an old lady several decades ago and the original discovery spot has a small shrine. However an official temple for the same has been built down the side of the road and it houses the mask and the treasure chest found with it.
