Barpeta

Barpeta, renowned as the "Land of the Satras", is located on the western part of Assam nearing the Bengal boarder. The town is 44 km away from Manas National Park and serves as the gateway to this Park. The rivers - Saolkhowa and Mora Nodi (Dead River), which are tributaries of Brahmaputra, run through the town.

Barpeta is known for culture and traditional handicrafts, including ivory carving which is popular all over in Assam.

By Air: Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, which is also known as Guwahati airport, is the nearest airport.

By Rail: The nearest Railway Station being Barpeta Road which lies at a distance of 21 km.

By Road: There are regular bus services between Barpeta and Guwahati. It is connected with the rest of Assam as well as Bengal through the National Highway 31.
