Brahmaputra River

Location

Brahmaputra River, renowned as Yarlung Tsangpo River in Tibet, originates from the south-western part of Tibet. It enters India through the Himalayas, where it is known as Dihang. In Barpeta, the river flows from south-west as Brahmaputra and goes into Bangladesh as the Jamuna. The 2,900 km long river Brahmaputra is the main river often used for irrigation and transportation purposes. Tourists can visit Baghbar hills for beautiful views of the river as it flows down from the Great Himalayas.
