Location
Mayong in Assamese district, is located about 20 km from Pelling. Situated on the banks of Brahmaputra River, this town is approximately 40 km from Guwahati. This district was once known for it’s supernatural stories and black magic. It was said to be the Indian capital of black magic and witchcraft during the ancient medieval times.
The Mayong district is included in various mythological epic books; one of them being the Mahabharat. Mayong central museum and emporium is home to various archaeological artefacts found during the year while some are yet to be discovered.
