Digboi Oil Refinery, established in 1901, is the first refinery of the country. It is one of the oldest oil refineries of the world and is still operational. The refinery has the capacity of producing around 0.65 Million Metric Tonnes Per Annum (MMTPA) oil. It is also engaged in production and distillation of wax from crude oil. This refinery is the headquarters of the Assam Oil Division of the Indian Oil Corporation Limited. The oil fields and the Oil Museum situated nearby are also popular .
