Eturnagaram Wildlife Sanctuary

Location

Eturnagaram Wildlife Sanctuary or Eturnagaram forest wildlife refuge is located nearby Warangal town and is one of the grand old sanctuaries in India. The wildlife refuge is dense with deciduous teak woods, and many wild animals are conserved here, the animals include tiger, spotted dear, wolf, panther, black buck, chinkara, giant squirrels, jackals, nilgai, sloth bear and four horned antelopes. To see wildlife in its natural habitat, visit to this forest wildlife sanctuary is a must. Many numbers of tourists are attracted to this sanctuary and the number is growing day by day.

Srisailam Sanctuary

Location

Srisailam also boasts of one of the largest Tiger Reserves in India. This sanctuary covers an area of 3568 km². The terrain is rugged and winding gorges slice through the area. This area is covered by dry deciduous forests with scrub and bamboo thickets.

These forests provide shelter to a range of animals like the tiger, leopard, deer, sloth bear, hyena, jungle cat, palm civet, bonnet macaque and pangolin.

The down waters of Srisailam Dam is home to a variety of crocodiles. The local government supports a breeding program which has been highly successful.

Nagarjunasagar Srisailam Tiger Reserve

Location

Extending over an area of 3568 Sq. kms, rich in flora & fauna, the Reserve is home to wildlife such as Tigers, Panthers, Jackals, Striped Hyenas, Small Indian Civet, as well as various species of Deer and Reptiles. The 'Chenchu' are primitive tribals indigenous to the area. The magnificent Ethipothala falls located 11 kms from Nagarjunasagar Dam are definitely worth seeing.

Lankamala Sanctuary

Location

Lankamala Sanctuary, one of the major tourist attractions of Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh, is spread over 464.42 sq km of area. It is about 15km away from the city of Cuddapah. The sanctuary is characterized by steep slopes and deep gorges. Waterfalls in its premises add to its picturesque beauty. It is home to a number of endemic species, while its forest consists of dry deciduous and dry evergreen shrubs.

Nehru Zoological Park

Location

With approximately 1500 species of birds, reptiles and animals, and with 300 acres of land, Nehru Zoological Park is one of the largest zoos in Asia. The zoo is located near Bahadurpura, Hyderabad. Chimpanzees, white peacocks, rhinoceros, and mynahs are the significant varieties of species seen in this well-maintained park. Lion Safari is the major attraction within the zoo.

The eager visitors are taken in a closed-cage tour inside the zoo, where wild animals such as majestic lions, tigers, wild oxen, rhinos and panthers are let live in their simulated natural habitat. A nocturnal zoo, a natural-history museum, a mini train, above all the prehistoric dinosaur park make the park a place to enjoy. It would take 6–7 hours to cover all aspects of the zoo.
