Sim's Park

Location

Sim's Park is an unusual botanical garden that was developed back in 1874 by Mr. J.D. Sims and Major Murray. Naturally occurring trees, shrubs and creepers, are in the park as are many unusual species of plants that have been brought in from a variety of places around the world. The park is situated in a deep ravine on the northern side of Coonoor and covers twelve acres of undulating land. The well though out park has a beautiful lay out. There is an annual fruit and vegetable show that is held in the park that is well attended.

Lumbini Gardens

Location

Lumbini Gardens is situated on the Outer Ring Road. It is located on the banks of the Nagawara Lake.

Lumbini Gardens is a wave pool with an artificial beach. Visitors without any age restrictions are allowed inside the gardens. The pool provides the best and safest form of entertainment. It also has a children’s pool. The pool is situated in an area of 12,500 square feet.

A modern filtration plant is used to maintain the quality of water in the pool. A specialized lifeguard is also employed through a master agency. He is always on the standby for extra safety.

Lal Bagh

Location

The Lal Bagh is one of India’s most beautiful botanical gardens. Hyder Ali set out the garden and his son is supposed to have added horticultural wealth to the garden. He imported several plants and trees from different courtiers.

The garden has about 1000 species of rare plants and herbs. The park is constructed in about 2400 acres. There is a glass house depicting London’s Crystal Palace and this is the main center of attraction. The garden is well protected with stone walls which act as enclosures. It has four approach gates.

Cubbon Park

Location

In 300 acres of abundant serenity lies the Cubbon Park. It was laid out by Lord Cubbon who was the viceroy of India in the year 1864. The park, in the present days, is a haven of Green foliage, in the center of modern Bangalore.

This beautiful park is visited by all tourists who seek calm and quiet atmosphere. Nature lovers, walkers and joggers enjoy the park as it is an ideal place for them.

After its institution additions to the park in the form of fairy fountains and grand band stand have been made. New buildings have added beauty and cultural wealth to the park.

Botanical Garden

Location

Any tourist who is interested in flora and in knowing about various species of plants has to surely visit the orchidarium and the green house in the Botanical garden. Yercaud is the place where the famous Kurinji flower blooms in plenty and the specialty of this flower is that it will bloom only once in twelve years.

Anna Park

Location

Anna Park: Another important place of visit in Yercaud is the Anna Park which is located near the lake. This park has a collection of the natural species of plants and trees seen around Shevaroy hills. Flower shows are conducted in this park during summer months.

There is a breathtaking Japanese garden inside this park in which plants are grown in Japanese style. Children can enjoy playing in the garden. It is a well maintained garden and is worth a visit.

Mehtab Bagh

Location

The Mehtab Bagh, a 25 acre garden plot constructed during 1631 to 1635 AD, is the moonlight garden located along the western side of bank of the river Yamuna. It is laid just across the Yamuna, aligned with the world famous Taj in a symmetrical style.

This is the ideal location from where one can view the perfect beauty of Taj Mahal under the romantic glossy moon light. This garden is one of the most attractive gardens in Agra and it replenish the grandeur era of Mughal dynasty in the minds of the traveler.

Aram Bagh (Ram / Dahra / Zahra Bagh)

Location

Aram Bagh, the garden of relaxation, is the first Persian garden in India and it was laid out by Babar in 1558, the founder of the Mughal dynasty. The garden developed in the classical Persian style is located on the banks of the Yamuna River. Aram Bagh, also known as Ram Bagh or Mughal Garden, has been believed as the tomb of Babar before the tomb was shifted to Kabul.

It is recorded that Babar had chosen this garden for relaxing and keeping off from his royal duties and he loved to hear the music while enjoying the fragrance of the flowers in the plants and trees in the garden. The garden is located in an elevated plain with water flowing all around and there are marvelous fountains in the middle.

Durga Bag

Location

A quaint garden on the banks of the Ana Sagar lake, Durga Bag is built in the year 1868 AD during the reign of Maharaja Shiv Dan Singh. A lovely garden, which offers a tranquil atmosphere with a myriad of fabulous flowers, is an ideal place to visit in the summer season. The garden has a delightful background entitled Shimla, which was erected by Maharaja Mangal Singh.
