Veda Peak

Location

Veda peak, the highest peak in Mon district is approximately 70 kms east of Mon district headquarters. From this peak, one can have a clear view of both river Brahmaputra and Chindwin on a clear day. There is a waterfall on the precincts of this peak and this area is also considered as one of the best locations in the whole of Konyak countryside.

Dikhu river, Tizit, Tapi, Teyap etc. are sights for tourist attraction for fishing and picnicking; Yetyong, Kaimang, Maksha and Thannyak rivers are popular for trout fishing;

Japfu Peak

Location

Japfu peak is trekker’s dream. Located at a distance of about 15 km south of Kohima, at a height of 3048 m above sea level, this is the 2nd highest peak in Nagaland. The peak offers breathtaking views of the city and the snow clad Himalayas.

The best season for trekking here is between October and March. The tallest rhododendron tree in the world measuring 130 feet in height with a girth of 11 feet stands at Japfü peak. The tree has secured a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.
