Vaitheeswaran Koil, located at a scenic location on the banks of the river Cauvery, is one of the important shrines dedicated specifically for the planet Mars. The temple is in the outskirts of Myladuthurai town.
This temple is a big structure built in a vast expanse of 10.7 acres of land. There are two imposing huge towers at the eastern and western entrances of the temple. The temple houses the idols of many Hindu Gods and Goddesses. Lord Murugan with six faces, Lord Shiva (Somakandan) and Dhanwanthary idols are also worshipped in this temple. This temple is very popular and devotees believe that by praying to Mars, all physical ailments can be overcome.
