Thiruvenkadu (Mercury)

Thiruvengadu temple, also known as Adi Chidambaram, is located on the northern shore of the River Cauvery and is dedicated to Planet Mercury (budha). This temple is very famous in Tamil Nadu and southern states of India. This temple houses the idols of all nine planets, but specifically devoted to Mercury with four arms. The temple faces east.

The temple structure is attractive with two attractive huge towers at the eastern and western sides. It is believed that Lord Shiva had carried out a rehearsal of the Thandava dance before it was performed at Chidambaram. The temple has temples dedicated to Lord Shiva and Lord Ganesha.
