Pavagadh Fort

Location

The Pavagadh Fort is situated on Pavagadh Hill and is just 4 km south-east of Champaner. It is one of the renowned ancient forts in Gujarat, which comprises three main parts. Foremost are the ruined parts; the second part comprises the palace and the middle fort, while the last is the upper fort, which has Hindu and Jain temples.

This fort was once an important part of the Solanki kingdom and featured a Lakulisa Hindu Temple, dating back to the 10th century. There are many more Jain and Hindu temples in this fort which were constructed between the 13th and 15th centuries. These temples resemble the Nagara style of architecture.
