Norbugang Coronation Throne

Location

The Norbugang Coronation Throne was constructed after the crowning of the first Chogyal of Sikkim in 1642. This throne is part of the Buddhist religious pilgrimage circuit. Norbugang Coronation Throne stands as the witness of the historical event wherein three Lamas met and consecrated the first king of Sikkim.

Norbugang Park has been created at Yuksam, which comprises a prayer hall, a prayer wheel and the Norbugang Chorten (stupa). This park also includes the supposed Coronation Throne (Norbugang), below a Cryptomeria pine. The throne is made of stone and has four seats, with the top seat intended for Lama Lhatsun Chhempo.
