Location
Nongsawlia, located at a distance of about 2 km from south of Sohra, is one of the most visited sites by tourists. The place is flocked by large number of tourists from all around the world, who come to see the great work by Welsh Missionaries. In 1942, the place was first visited by Welsh missionaries, who added quality to the life of people residing here.
In addition, it is the very same place where Thomas Jones, a missionary, introduced the Khasi Alphabet, which enhanced the Khasi literature. As a result of this introduction, the Sohra dialect was used as the lingua-franca of the Khasis, which later spread to all other parts of hills.
