Location
Neelameghaperumal Temple is a 10th century shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva and is located in the holy city of Thiruvarur in Tanjore district of Tamil Nadu. The prime deity Lord Shiva in this temple is known as Neelameghaperumal.
This ancient temple is placed in a vast expanse of land. The ancient architectural brilliance of Chola kings are seen still on the towers and mantapams in this temple. The main sanctum is in a huge tower raising about 100 feet. There is a large mantapam ideal for offering prayers and meditations. The temple complex has many small shrines dedicated to other Gods and Goddesses, including Lord Ganesha and Goddess Parvati. This famous temple is under renovation now.
