Maha Sati

Location

Maha Sati, a sacred place used to cremate the Udaipur rulers, is located at a place Ahar in Chittorgarh. A main attraction in Maha Sati is a natural reservoir named Gangodbhawa Kund and mythological stories claim that a tributary of Ganges flows underground and emerges here as Ahar river in which this Kund is originated.

Meera Temple

Location

Chittorgarh is blessed with the divine luck of being the birth place of Meera Bhai, the saint-poet and a 16th century Rajput princess. Princess Meera Bhai who had given up the luxurious royal life to spend her life devoted to Lord Krishna and to sing the devotional songs, bhajans of Lord Krishna.

Meera Temple, associated with Meera Bain ad affine specimen of architectural style of Rajputs, is situated nearby to Kumbha Shyam Temple in Chittorgarh. The temple designed in North Indian style has four pavilions in the open arcade enclosing the sanctum. Interior of the Sanctum is adorned with beautiful eye catching paintings of Meera Bhajans and Lord Krishna. This is nice tourist destination to feel the devotion to Lord Krishna.

Satbis Deori Temple

Location

Satbis Deori temple, pronounced as Sat-bis-Deori temple, is a Jain shrine located inside Mohar Magri in Chittorgarh.

Mohar Margi is a huge structure constructed in 1567 during Akbar’s, the great emperor of the Mughal dynasty, invasion of Chittorgarh. This huge mount was raised to a height such that one could fire the canons directly into the Chittorgarh fort. Satbis Deori temple has an attractive structure and visit of this temple enable the visitor to bring back the Jain culture and beauty of the artistic carvings into his mind.

Shyam Temple

Location

Kalika Mata Temple, a shrine dedicated to Kalika – a symbol of courage and power, has its origin in 8th century and is one of the oldest temple sin the Chittorgarh region. It is believed that the temple was constructed as a Sun temple originally in the 8th century by the King Bappa Rawal of Sisodya Dynasti. Later Maharana Hamir Singh congregated a Kalika Idol during some time in 14th century and started worshipping there. Hence the present temple got the name as Kalika Mata temple. This goddess is assumed to be the Patron Goddess of Chittorgarh.

Bhandeshwar Jain Temple

Location

This temple is oldest existing structure in Bikaner. The beautiful temple was erected near Laxminath temple in 1514A.D. by two brothers Bhandeshwar and Sandheswar and named after them. This marvel piece of architecture is dedicated to 23rd teerthankar "PARSVANATH JI".The seth was very particular about every penny in his personal life but when it came to religious point he ordered hundreds of maunds of Ghee (Clarified Butter) and coconuts to be freely used in the foundation.

This temple is Carved in red sand stone and white marble - its famous for carvings ,wall paintings , structural beauty and artisticly designed statues. The rich mirror work, decor and frescoes of Bhandashah: and their gold leaf paintings are noteworthy.

Kolayat Temple

Location

A famous pilgrimage spot with a temple dedicated to Kapil Muni (saint) is situated 50 kms from Bikaner on highway leading to Jaisalmer.Kapil Muni sat in meditation near lake.Muni was propounder of Sankhya Philosophy The temple is the venue for an annual fair held in the month of Kartik (Oct-Nov) when the thousands of devotees gather in a large number to take a sacred dip in the holy waters of the Kolayat lake( Kapil Sarovar) on the full moon day. Lake is considered to have the effect of washing off the sins of devotees.

Lakshmi Nath Temple

Location

Lakshmi Nath Temple is one of the oldest temples of Bikaner. The foundation of Bikaner was laid here in the year 1488 A.D. by Rao Bikaji. It being a historical monument has special identity. This temple was erected during the reign of Rao Lunkaran and boasts of the superb archeological skills of artists and artisans . It was later develpoed by Maharaja Ganga Singh Ji. Statues of deities- Vishnu and Laxmi - have all along received the unwavering devotion of countless people through the last four and half centuries.

Shiv Bari Mandir

Location

Built by Dungar Singhji in the late 19th century. The temple is surrounded by an embattlement wall. It has four-faced black marble Shiva statue and a bronze Nandi facing the Shiva-Lingam. There are two large reservoirs of water known as bawaris.

This red sandstone temple attracts thousands of visitors during Shravan (Feb) especially on mondays.

Ganga Mandir

Location

Ganga Mandir is an architectural wonder. Built by Maharaja Balwant Singh in 1845, this temple has a unique story attached to it. It is believed that all the people employed in the service of the state were asked to donate one month's salary or any increment in their salary for the temple. The temple was constructed out of this money only.
