Sammed Shikharji

Location

Sammed Shikharji, close to Giridih, is a popular Digambar Jain Teerth Kshetra. It is a place where twenty teerthankars attained salvation. Sammed Shikharji is also known as Teerthraj, the King of Teerths. Temples dedicated to each of the twenty teerthankars are located on the Parasnath Hills. Some of these shrines are believed to be around 2000 years old.

Madhuban

Location

Madhuban, a Jain pilgrim centre, is situated close to Pirtand tehsil in the district of Giridih. The place is known for an ancient temple which is around 2000 years old. The Bhomiyaji Asthan and the Jain temple of Samosharan are also situated nearby. A Jain museum that displays different scriptures, manuscripts and idols is situated in Madhuban.

Naulakha Mandir

Naulakha Mandir is situated at a distance of around 2 km from Baba Baidyanath Temple. Possessing similar architecture of Ramakrishna Temple in Belur, the shrine encompasses beautiful idols of Radha and Krishna ranging about 146 ft in height.

The name of the temple is derived from the amount spent in its construction, which was donated by Rani Charushila, a queen of Pathuria Ghat royal family, Kolkata. Making the total cost of around nine lakh rupees, the temple received its name as Naulakha.

Nandan Pahar

Nandan Pahar is located at a distance of around 3 kmfrom Baba Baidyanath Dham station. The numerous temples on the hill have beautiful idols of Shiva, Parvati, Ganesh and Kartik. The site also has a water tank, which supplies filtered water to the entire destination. Tourists can also see beautiful views of the district, sunrise and sunset from this site.

As per mythology, once Ravana tried to enter Shivadham forcibly when Nandi was the doorkeeper of Lord Shiva. Nandi stopped him from entering the premises of Lord Shiva. Ravana got furious and threw him down at this site and hence, the hill is known by his name. Apart from housing the temple, the hill also has a famous park named Nandan Hill Entertainment Park.

Lila Temple

Lila Temple, often called as Arunachal Mission, is located at a distance of around 5 km from Deoghar. Situated towards the east of the destination, the temple was built by Thakur Jayanand Deo, which works towards promoting universal brotherhood. Being the main deity of the ashram, a huge idol of Goddess Kali is enshrined in the premises.

Kundeshwari

Kundeshwari, one of the prime attractions of the destination, is renowned for housing a beautiful shrine named Nava Graha Temple. Located at a distance of around 1 km from Chandi Hill, the temple was constructed in 1911 by Late Ramapada Bandopadhyay, a resident of Hoogly, West Bengal.

Apart from Nava Graha, the idols of Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati, Ganesh and Lakshmi-Narayan are also enshrined in the sanctum of the temple. Tourists and devotees on their way to this temple can also spend time at Kali Temple, which was built by Late Fakir Chandra Chatterjee.

Hathi Pahar

Hathi Pahar, also known as Mahadevatari, is a popular hillock towards the east of the destination. The hillock is named as Mahadevatari because it houses a beautiful shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. The hill is named Hathi Pahar as it looks like an elephant, when seen from a distant place. Apart from this, the hill also has a small stream of water, which flows continuously towards the valley.

Tourists as well as devotees often visit this place for consuming the water of the stream. Further, the water is believed to have medicinal values that can cure diseases related to stomach.

Dev Sangha Math

Dev Sangha Math, also known as Dev Sangha Ashram, is one of the divine associations present in the region. The site is located at a distance of around 2 km from Deoghar Railway Station and 3 km from Baidyanath Temple.

The beautiful blend of Bengali architectural style can be witnessed in the Nava Durga Temple, which is located inside Dev Sangha Math. Constructed in 1955, the temple has a beautiful idol of Goddess Durga. Apart from this, the temple also houses images of Krishna, Annapurna and Maheshwara.
