Gurdwara Tibbi Sahib

Location

Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji is said to have visited Jaitu on 15th April, 1706. Here Guru Ji stayed at a Sand Dune (Tibba) near village Jaitu and practiced arrows shooting with other sikhs. People congregate here on 10th Phagun every year in memory of the sikhs who scarified their lives during Jaitu Morcha and this is known as Shaheedi Jor Mela.

Gurudwara Akal Bunga

Location

Located opposite to Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib, Gurudwara Akal Bunga was the location where Guru Gobind Singhji addressed the Sikhs after the cremation of his father and asked them to prepare to fight for freedom of faith and war against tyranny and justice.

After cremation of the holy head of his father, followed by a prayer to the Almighty, the 10th Guru had rested here with his relations and followers.

Gurudwara Guru-Ka-Mahal (Bhora Sahib)

Location

This was the residence of Guru Teg Bahadur Singh, the 9th Guru. Also called Bhora Sahib it was inherited by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the 10th Guru. There is an underground room here where the 9th guru used to meditate, away from the noise outside. Sahibzadas, the son of Guru Gobind Singh ji was born here.

Residence of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur inherited by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji; the sahibzadas- the holy sons of the 10th Guru were born here. There is an underground room cut off from the din of life where the 9th Guru used to meditate.

Gurudwara Thara Sahib

Location

Guru Teg Bahadur used to deliver sermons at Gurudwara Thara Sahib. There is a place marked within the Gurudwar to indicate where the Kashmiri Brahmins came to him to seek protection from the Mughal emperor, Aurangzeb as they were being forced to convert to Islam.

The 9th Guru used to deliver sermons from this raised platform. There is place to mark the spot where the Kashmiri Brahmins came to seek protection.

Gurudwara Sis-Ganj Sahib

Location

When Guru Teg Bahadur was martyred in Delhi in the year 1675, his head was brought back to Anandpur Sahib and cremated at the site of Sisganj. Bhai Jatia defying the Mughal authorities brought back the severed head of the Guru to cremate here.

In November, 1675, the martyred head of the 9th Guru which was heroically brought by Bhai Jaita ( Bhai Jiwan Singh after taking holy nectar according to Sikh rites (baptism) in exultant defiance of the Mughal authorities was cremated here, ceremoniously.

Gurudwara Damdama Sahib

Location

Guru Gobind Singhji, the 10th Guru was given the Guru Gaddi (the seat of the Sikh religious leadership) at the Gurudwara Damdama Sahib. At this gurudwara he declared the end of the institution of Masands, the priestly agents of the former Guru’s.

The 10th Guru was given the Guru Gaddi, here. It was from here that he had declared the end of the institution of the Masands-the priestly agents of the former Gurus.

Gurudwara Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib

Location

The beautiful white structure of the Gurudwara Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib is the biggest and among the most important Gurudwara for the Sikhs. It is one of the 4 seats of authority of the Sikh religion and is therefore also called “Takht Kesgarh Sahib”.

In 1699, on the day of Baisakhi, Guru Gobind Singhji fulfilled Guru Nanak’s mission and through baptism of the double edged sword the Sikh was consummated as Khalsa (saint and soldier in direct commune with the Guru and God). Guru Gobind Singhji got himself baptized by the Panj Pyaras, or the 5 beloved ones. The holy book of the Sikhs, Guru Granth Sahib, is kept in the main hall of this Gurudwara.
