Gurdwara Chhevin Padshahi

Location

Guru Hargobind visited the city of Jalandhar during his tour of Doaba area. Gurdwara Chhevin Padshahi in Basti Shaikh, Jalandhar city, stands on the spot where Guruji granted interview to a Muslim holy saint popularly known as Shaikh Darvesh. The saint blindfolded his eyes so that he could swear before the Mughal authorities that he had not seen the Guru. The great Guru had in depth discussion with the Shaikh Darvesh about spiritual matters which created good impact on the holy man.

Mukeshwar Temple at Shahpur Kandi

Location

This temple is situated on the bank of river Ravi. It is about eight kilometers north east of SHAHPUR KANDI. This temple is the earliest relics of antiquity. These are said to data back to the times of the PANDAVAS.

Stories are told of ARJUN’S and DRAUPADI’S visit to this place. Near the temple a long left in the rock a little way up the river is known ARJUNA’S CHULA.

Mahakaleshwar Temple At Kalanaur

Location

Since time immemorial, a big Shivratri fair is held every year in the Mahakaleshwar temple on Shivratri day when a large number of devotees gather here to celebrate the festival of Shivratri. This photograph shows the shivlingam which is in horizontal position. It is the only temple of shiva in india in which shivlingam is in horizontal position. This shivlingam is in mahakaleshwar temple at Kalanaur.

Gurudwara Droli Bhai

Location

Gurudwara at village Daroli Bhai in Ferozepur district is associated with the sixth Guru Sri Hargobindji. Baba Gurdita his eldest son was born here. A magnificent Gurudwara stands at the spot, in memory of the eldest son of the Sixth Guru. In the Gurudwara, the chola or gown of Guruji is displayed. Besides an iron hot plate is also preserved in the Gurudwara of Daroli Bhai. It is said that Guru cooked chapatis on this hot plate, when he founded a free kitchen on Baisakhi day in this village.

Gurudawar Gurusar (Bazidpur)

Location

The village of Bazidpur is situated 7 km from the Firozpur Cantonment on the Firozpur-Moga road. There is a historical gurudwara, known as Gurudawar Gurusar, built in the memory of Guru Gobind Singh. It is said that the Guru rested at this place on his way to the village of Rupana after the battle of Muktsar. The Jand-tree, to which the Guru tied his horse, still exists. The building of the Gurdwara and the sarowar (tank) were built by the erstwhile rulers of the Faridkot State.

Saragarhi Memorial Gurudwara

Location

Commemorates the battle, which took place on Samana Ridge of the Hindu Kush and Sulleiman. Ranges in 1897 when 21 soldiers of the 36 Sikh (later 4 Sikhs) regiment had died fighting to the last man against a several times greater force of the local tribal chiefs. The history of the battle is taught in French schools and forms part of the 8 narratives of collective bravery published by UNESCO. On 12th September every year thousands of people and ex-servicemen pay homage to the celebrated heroes here.

Gurdwara Godari Sahib

Location

This place is situated on the out skirts about 4 K.M. on Faridkot-Kotkapura road. It is believed that Baba Sheikh Farid left his godari (Jacket) there before entering Faridkot town. A beautiful gurdwara was constructed in 1982 and a Sant Sarover was later constructed at this place. Large numbers of people visit this place every Thursday and also take bath in this Sarover.

Gurdwara Tilla (Chilla) Baba Farid

Location

This is as old as the town-self. This place is situated near the Qilla Mubarak. Baba Farid remained at this place in meditation for 40 days before proceeding to Pakpattan. Besides place of Tilla Baba Farid. A sacred piece of wood with which Baba ji wiped his hands littered with mud has been preserved to - date. Shabad-Kirtan is recited get daily and Langer is also served every day to the people visiting this place. The poor also get daily langer, larger number of people visit this holy place on every Thursday to pay their obeisance to the great Sufi Saint.
