Dhani Kamarini Temple

Location

Dhani Kamarini temple is located at a serene place south east of Sri Ramakrishna’s dwelling. A photo image of Sri Ramakrishnan is worshipped at this temple. Gadadhar was brought up from childhood by Dhani, a blacksmith woman. A small temple has been erected at this location with an oil painted image of Dhani with the child Gadadhar in the lap.

Dargah of Ismail Guji

Location

Dargah of Ismail Guji is a religious attraction in the outskirts of village Kamarpukur. This place of worship is placed at a picturesque location with aesthetic ambiance. The Dargah is a popular place where people from all ways of life with different faiths pay their respects. The surroundings of the Dargah are beautiful and suitable for meditation.

Thongsa Gompa (Bhutanese Monastery)

Location

Thongsa Gompa, also renowned as Bhutanese Monastery, was established in 1692 and is the oldest monastery situated in the region of Kalimpong. The presently seen Gompa is the renovated one, after the demolition of the original Gompa by the ravage of Gurkhas in Sikkim. The original Gompa was built under the Bhutanese rule and it is believed that this was built under the direct guidance of Bhutan King.

St Theresa Church

Location

St Theresa's Church, an ancient centuries old church, is believed to be built by local craftsmen. This church resembles monasteries and a rare view of the Tibetan architectural design can be seen on the structure of this church. The church walls are enriched with the paintings and inscriptions of Biblical themes. The scenes displayed on the walls carried biblical characters resembling the Buddhist monks.

Catholic Church

Location

The Catholic Church, the largest church in the Kalimpong area, is a revered religious attraction. The church, built during the British rule in 1890, is constructed under the supervision of the British architect Hardy from Edinburgh. This church was open to public for offering prayers in November 1891 after a religious consecration. The architectural style of the church is the one following the western style.

Nava Kailash or 108 Shiv Mandirs

Location

A major attraction is the Nava Kailash or 108 Shiv Mandirs. Built in 1809, the temples are constructed in two circles. One consists of 74 temples while the other circle has 34. The former has white marble and black stone shivlingas, while the latter has only white marble ones. Due to its ingenious planning, all the shivlingas can be seen from the centre of the temple complex.
