Bhagsunath temple

Location

Bhagsunath, an attractive tourist spot, is located at the outskirts of Mcleodganj. The place got its name from the ancient temple known as Bhagsunath temple at the heart of the region. The temple attracts many devotees and the local people admire the idol adorning the temple having great healing powers.

Namgyaima Stupa

Location

Namgyaima Stupa, a charming Buddhist structure, is located at the heart of Mcleodganj city. This stupa was built as a mark of respect to the Tibetan soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of Tibet. The structure of the stupa is similar to the structures, which was built in 3rd century during the period of the great emperor Ashoka.

Gompa Dip Tse-Chok Ling

Location

The small Gompa Dip Tse-Chok Ling is located on the bottom of a steep track. The main Prayer hall has an image of the Shakyamuni. The monks who lived in the Gompa have made two huge drums covered in goatskin and painted around the rim. The butter sculptures, which are made during Losar, are destroyed in the next Losar festival. This gompa is also famous for the fine and detailed mandals.

Tsuglagkhang Complex

Location

The Tsuglagkhang Complex in Dharamsala is a sacred building complex enclosing the residence of Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibetan Government in exile. The complex is constructed in a location near Mcleod Ganj and is overlooked by the mountain ranges of Dhauladhar. Lush pine forests offer the natural beauty and the atmosphere offers a perfect tranquility in the location.

Tsuglagkhang Complex encloses a monastery, a Tibetan museum, a cafeteria, a book shop and library, prayer wheels and Buddhist shrines, apart from the royal but simple residence of the spiritual saint. Visitors are allowed to move anywhere in the complex without any obstacles and difficulties.

Triloknath Temple

Location

One among the oldest temples in Mandi, Triloknath Temple is situated at Purani Mandi. Built in AD 1520 by the then queen, Sultan Devi, Trilok Nath temple in Mandi features excellence in architecture. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple premises are enshrined with numerous images of the destroyer of the universe.

The main deity is seen flanked with his consort Parvathi and the Nandi Bull. The sanctum of the temple is adorned by a three-face image of lord Shiva, which is quite captivating. Besides the main deity, temple also holds idols of other gods like Sharda and Narda.

Tarna Temple (Shyama Kali Temple)

Guru Gobind Singh is a respected figure in the history of the Sikh tradition in India. It was under his auspicious guidance that the Sikhs were united and fought their war against the despotic rule of Auranghazeb. In his war against the mighty King, Gobind Singh got enormous support from the ruling reign of the Manda state. It is believed that the town is blessed by the great Guru.

Panchvaktra Temple

Location

An abode of numerous temples, most of which are dedicated to Lord Shiva, Mandi proposes a great pilgrimage center for the devotees. It is amazing to see that this small hilly area has more than three hundred temples flanking the River Beas. Almost all the temples display world-class architecture and structural designs that forced the Archaeological department to declare them as protected monuments.

Bhima Kali Temple

Location

The family deity of the erstwhile Bushahar rulers, Bhima Kali Temple is located on the banks of the Beas River. Dedicated to goddess Bhimakali, this temple presents an architectural marvel. This beautiful temple also houses a large museum. Mythology says that this was the place where lord Krishna fought a terrific war with Banasura, the demon King. The myth further says that the head of the routed king Banasur was buried in the earth.

Ardhnareshwar Temple

Location

Lord Shiva in the composite form of half man and half woman is the principal deity of this unique temple. Such temples are very rare in the India and the deity here signifies the beautiful ideology of Ardhnareshwar. Apart from the feeling it generates, this temple exhibits the richness of traditional architecture with elaborate carvings.
