The exposure of Patal Bhuvaneshwar (Lord Shiva in the underground temple complex) is one of this unique way to help mankind. 16 Km to the north-east of Gangolihat and 20 Km. to the south of Berinag is situated the Patal Bhuvaneshwar cave temple. It is 91 Km away from the district head quarter and situated at a height of 1350 meters above sea level. The temple place comes under village Bhuvneshwar which is in the tehsil Didihat. The way to the temple is through a narrow tunnel shaped cave, giving a very thrilling experience.

Punyagiri temple is one of the most renowned temples in the Kumaon region. Lakhs of pilgrims visit the shrine during April to June. The site is around 20 kms from Tanakpur, out of which 6 kms is to be trekked. A tourist bungalow and dharamsalas are available for accomodation.

36 kms from Pithoragarh is Rameshwar, located at the confluence of the Ram Ganga (East) and Saryu rivers. It is the site of a Shiva temple, where a huge fair is held every year on Makarsankranti (January).

Eight Km on motor roads to the south of Pithoragarh and thence after a climb along a narrow pathway flanked by dense vegetation is reached the Kedar temple situated at a height of 2000 meters.

On Pithoragarh chandak motor road close to where the tourist rest house is situated stands the Ulkadevi temple besides which has also been built a memorial for the martyrs who laid down their lives in defense of the mother land. The temple offers a remarkable view of the sprawling Soar Valley.

Binsar Mahadev temple is situated at an altitude of 2480 mtrs. It is at a distance of 22 km. from Thalisain. The temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, is of archaeological significance. The 'Garbhagriha' (Sanctum) of the temple is beautifully adorned by the idols of Ganesh, Har Gauri and Maheshmardini. The image of Maheshmardini is engraved with inscriptions in 'Nagri lipi', which indicates its association with 9th century.

A magnificent shrine in an imposing ambiance of dense forest and a majestic hill, Kandoliya Shiva temple is just two kilometers away from the main city. Popularly called as the Kandolia Devta Mandir, this sacred shrine of Lord Shiva is one of the crowd pullers of the locality.

Though the presiding deity is Lord Shiva, the temple also houses the local Bhumi-Devta and often referred as the Devta Mandir by the locals. The temple premises is surrounded by a beautiful park and in summers Kandolia Park sees the happy sounds of the cheerful children playing and their families picnicking.

Situated on the bank of river Malini at a distance of 14 kms from Kotdwar, Kanva Rishi Ashram is an important place from the historical and archaelogical point of view. It is believed that Sage Vishwamitra meditated here. Indra, the king of Gods, was scared by his intense meditation, and sent a beautiful heavenly damsel named Menka to disturb him. Menka finally succeeded in diverting Vishwamitra's attention. After giving birth to a girl she went back to heaven. This girl later became Shakuntala who got married to the prince of Hastinapur and gave birth to Bharat, the prince after whom our country is called Bharat. An 8th century temple that signifies the Hindu renaissance of that time Kyunkaleshwar Mahadev Temple situates in the suburbs of the main town .It is believed that this historic shrine is raised by Sankaracharya during his trip to Pauri.

The temple has Lord Shiva as the presiding deity who is accompanied by his consort Goddess Parvati and their children Ganapati and Karthikeya. Along with them, Lord Ram, Lakshman and Sita also adores the temple premises.

This temple is at a distance of 3 km. from the main town of Srinagar and is believed to have been constructed by Adi Guru Shankaracharya. The temple has a unique architectural beauty. The 'Garbhagriha' (Sanctum) of the temple has the stone images of God Vishnu & Godess Laxmi. It is associated with 17th century on the basis of its stylistic features.
