CH. DEVI LAL Herbal Nature Park

Location

Situated in village Chuharpur on the Yamuna Nagar - Paonta road. The mountainous belt of shiwaliks in Haryana has a rich diversity of medicinal plant species. In view of the increasing market demand for medicinal plants, both national and international and to exploit the commercial potential of medicinal resources wealth of this region, the Ch. Devi Lal Herbal Nature Park has been created and developed at Chuharpur in district Yamunanagar to conserve and propagate the resource base of medicinal plant material in Haryana.

Mughal Gardens and Palaces

Location

These grandiose gardens were built by Aurangzeb’s foster brother Fidai Khan and includes the Mughal-Rajasthani style Shish Mahal (or Palace of mirrors), Rang Mahal (Palace of Pleasure) and Jal Mahal (Palace of Water). Unlike most mughal gardens, the entrance to this is from a higher ground, with seven terraces descending from a hill. The Mughal Gardens are also known as Yadavindra Gardens

Paget Park

Location

Located in the north of the city is a pleasant open space known as the Paget Park. It has the shell of the St John's Cathedral, designed in the 14th century Gothic style, which was bombed in the 1965 Indo-Pakistan war.

Rock Garden

Location

This airy garden is located at the foot of the Samdrupste hill. Refresh yourself at this magnificent garden. The garden is situated below Samdrupste. It is a recreation and picnic spot. It offers magnificent view of Mount Kanchendzonga.

Ipecac Garden

Location

This 6 acres garden is about 14-km downhill from Gangtok and 2-km from Ranipul. It is named after the plant Ipecac that is grown here. Besides this plant, it also contains a wide variety of other flora including numerous types of orchids and medicinal plants. It is a very good picnic spot with a swimming pool nearby.

Deer Park

Location

Adjacent to the new secretariat and also called the Rustomji Park named after one of the Dewans of the Chogyal of Sikkim, the park has a big open enclosure in which animals native to Sikkim like the red panda and the Himalayan Bear are kept. A big statue of Lord Buddha commemorating his preachings of the noble truths in the Deer Park at Sarnath adorns the park premises. A butter lamp perpetually burns in front of the statue, which is surrounded with flowers of exotic variety. The park commands a fantastic view of the hills, surrounding Gangtok.
