Khonghampat Orchidarium

Location

The paradise of Orchids, Khonghampat Orchidarium is the Orchid yard maintained by the Forest Department of Manipur. It is located on National Highway No.39, which is only 7 km from the capital city Imphal. Here the colourful flowers are waiting to greet you with sweet fragrance and wonderful views. A visit to Khonghampat Orchidarium is a trip to a different world altogether. This place is dotted with more than 110 varieties of orchids, including several rare species. The best time to visit this place is from April to May.

War Cemeteries

Location

The cemeteries are the seats of remembrance for the British and Indian soldiers who fought and died in the Second World War. When you visit these cemeteries, the peace and the cleanliness of the place will entice you. If the tourists are not satisfied with the serenity then they can go through the various written messages on the stone markers and bronze plaques of the graves.

Sekta Kei Mound

Location

The most prominent feature of the mound is the 6 well demarked burial areas in village Sekta which is located at a distance of about 18kms from the town. The state archaeology was able to isolate only one burial mound. The total area under protection is 0.35 acre. The excavation at the Sekta burial site revealed important informations of the burial customs of the Sekta people and their social and economic life. This has helped archaeologist and historians to reassess the historical process of the people of Manipur.

Matsyadarshini Aquarium

Location

Matsyadarshini, a beautiful aquarium with nearly 20 medium and large sized tanks displaying the fresh water and marine fish and water animal species, is setup and run by Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation. The Aquarium, established on the shore of Ramakrishna beach, has many marine varieties include the long horn cow fish, butterfly fishes, surgeon major, peacock wrasse, the lion fish, stone fish, red squirrel fish, perch dusky, trigger fish, clown fish, damsels, sweet lip rabbit fish, angels, electric ray, porcupine fish and many more.

Matsyadarshini has in its credit uncommon marine invertebrates. The carpet anemones, starfishes in different colours, tentacle anemones in white and orange, sea anemones in varying colours are all gives a pleasant view.
