Suraj Kund Tourist Complex And The Crafts Fair

Location

Situated at a distance of around 8 km from South Delhi, it is an ideal picnic spot. The Suraj Kund Lake here is surrounded by rock cut steps. Built by rajput king Surajpal Tomar, Suraj Kund represents the rising sun. Ruins of a Sun temple lie around the lake. The complex includes a beautifully done-up Rajhans, a pool of fresh water - Siddha Kund; its waters said to have healing properties and a garden.A delightful handloom and handicrafts fair is held here annually in February.

Temi Tea Garden

Location

Temi Tea Garden is the only tea estate in entire Sikkim. It is one of the best tea producing estates in India and its tea is considered of top quality in international market as well. Temi Tea Garden was established in the year 1969 and covers an area of 435 acres. It produces nearly 100 million tonnes of tea every year. It has also been awarded quality award two years in a row. Though the tea from the gardens are priced quite high, they worth every bit Namchi is most famous for the tallest statue of Guru Rinpoche situated in Samdruptse just few kilometers from Namchi. It is also visited for the magnificent Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary and the Rock Garden. And there is probably no better place than Namchi in Sikkim to taste a hot cup of fresh tea.of it.

Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary

Location

Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary is one of its kind in entire north east India as the main attraction here is not any animal but a type of tree. The entire sanctuary is filled with Rhododendron tree and there are nearly 40 species in the park. The park is surrounded by mountains and valleys from all sides which presents breathtaking views from the park. The Yumthang Chhu River flows through the park. The extremely rare Rhododendron tree is also the state tree. Serow, Goral, blood pheasant, common hill partridge, and endangered spotted linsang. The sanctuary is nearly 137 km from Gangtok.

Dzongu

Location

Visit to the forested land Dzongu is a recreational activity in its true sense. It has two rivers called Teesta and Tolung. It is located in the vicinity of Mt. Kanchanjunga and the snow -clad Mt. Siniolchu which are steeped in natural beauty.

The Ridge

Location

The ridge is a small stretch of plain and flat road above the town of Gangtok. It is just about five minutes walk from the main market. The ridge has the white hall and the chief minister's official residence on one end and the beautifully designed palace gate on the other. The ridge is lined with plants and trees when in bloom are a riot of colours. Flower shows, which attract tourists from all over the world are held just below the ridge.
