Bhairon Temple

Location

Bhairon Temple is located at a distance of 1.42 km from the Bhawan. The temple is situated at the highest point of the adjacent hill at an altitude of 6,619 ft. This temple also involves a steep climb which can be undertaken by foot, ponies or palanquins.

It is believed that the journey to Mata Vaishno Devi is not complete without the darshan in Bhairon Temple. According to the legends, Bhairon Nath was killed by Vaishno Devi and while seeking an apology, was given a boon of being the last link of the pilgrimage.

Mattan

Location

Mattan, situated a few kilometres away from Anantnag, is an important Hindu pilgrimage centre in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. Lying on the Pahalgam road this centre attracts hordes of devotees from all across the country. It is one of those religious places in India where the priests and pundits used to gather for worshiping the Sun god.

Aishmuqam

Location

Aishmuqam is the shrine of a Sufi saint Baba Zaina-ud-din Wali, who was commonly known by the name ‘Zaino Shah Sahib’. This shrine is located on a hillock, which stands 86 km away from Srinagar en route to Pahalgam. The main sanctorum is placed inside a deep and narrow cave, which also contains several relics associated to Baba in a room. One such relic is ‘The Rod of Staff’ of Prophet Moses PBUH.

Rangji Temple

Location

Built in the year 1851, Rangji temple in Vrindavana is a typical example of South Indian temple architecture. Its impressive gopuram and the high walls exhibit characteristic features of a classic south Indian temple. This imposing façade was the contribution of the seth family of Mathura and it showcases Lord Sri Ranganatha or Rangaji as the principal deity. Rangji is one of the personifications of Lord Vishnu and it is depicted in the form of Anatha sayanam (the lord retreats on the celestial serpant Anatha).

Yamuna River

Location

This is the most sacred river in Indian. The main reason it is so sacred is because it flows through Vrindavana and Mathura, and was thus intimately connected to Lord Krishna's pastimes. One who bathes in the Yamuna can be purified of all sinful reactions and attain love of Godhead.

Vrindavana Parikrama

Location

It is customary for devotees to walk around the town of Vrindhavana. There is a parikrama path that goes around the town. This path is one street over from the ISKCON temple. It takes two or three hours to go around the town. The parikrama path is 10 km (6 miles). Some of the places passed on the way are: Mohana Ter, Kaliya Ghata, Madana Mohana Temple, Imli Tala, Sringara Vat, and Keshi Ghata.

Imli Tala

Location

Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu would come daily to Imli Tala to chant japa, when He was living in Vrindavana. Imli Tala means the shade of the tamarind tree. Imli means 'tamarind' and tala mean 'tree'. There is a small temple here with Gaura-Nitai and Radha-Krishna Deities.
