Gopinath Temple

Location

The temple narrates a tale, which though curious is believed by so many devotees. It goes like this. Srimati Jahnava Devi was taken by the lord to the sanctum of the temple when she came to the temple for the evening aartis. Jahnava Devi is Ananga Manjari in Krishna’s pastimes, who is none other than the sister of Radha Rani. Later the deity of Ananga Manjari, was fixed to the left of Krishna. To the right Radharanis’s idol is placed. Besides this three, there are idols of Visakha and Lalita also seen.

Shyam Sundar Temple

Location

An amazing shrine in the center of Vrindavan city, Shyam sunder temple allures the devotees with its extreme devoutness. It is believed that the deity of Lord Krishna has been manifested from the heart of Radha Rani and for the last 500 years the self manifested idol of Lord Krishna adorns the sanctum with out much change.

It is one of the popular shrines in Vrindavan and it holds the most beautiful idol of the lord. The popular belief is that the lord in this shrine is the fulfiller of every wish and so this temple premises often sees large gatherings.

Shree Radha Ras Bihari Ashta Sakhi Temple

In Vrindavan, the “Lila Sthan” (the place of the divine passion play) of Lord Krishna, lies the temple that is a must visit destination for devotees completing the 84 kosh Vraj Parikrama Yatra. The temple is centuries old and is the first Indian temple that is dedicated to the divine couple and their Ashta Sakhi’s - the eight “companions” of Radha who were intimately involved in her love play with the Lord Krishna. The Ashta Sakhis are mentioned in the ancient texts of Puranas and the Bhagavata Purana.

Shahji Temple

Erected in the year 1876, The Shahji Temple, turns to be one of the signature structures in Vrindavan. A masterpiece in terms of art, this magnificent shrine blends beautifully different styles of structural designs in its framework. Its lovely marble structures and lofty spiral columns exposes outstanding architectural handiness. Though every nook and corner of the temple is festooned with marvelous artistic expressions the `Basanti Kamra' or the darball hall surpasses all the other facades with its elegant charm. Exquisitely fashioned Belgian glass chandeliers and fine paintings that adorn the Darbar hall arrests the vision of the beholder. A bevy of stylish miniatures that embellishes the interior of the temple is a delight for all art lovers.

Radha Vallabha Temple

Location

Harivamsa Gosvami founded Radha Vallabha temple in Vrindavan and it is considered as one among the popular temples in Vrindavana. Established by the Radha-Vallabh sampradaya, this temple aims to nurture better devotion towards Radharani. As per Hindu Mythology, Radha’s association with Lord Krishna signifies the epitome of supreme love and the temple aims to preserve this cardinal principle of divinity.

Radha Raman Temple

Literally Radha Ramana means one who gives happiness to Radha, and it is one among the numerous names of Lord Krishna. It was established by Gopala Bhatta Gosvami and it is told that the deity in the temple is self manifested from one of his shalagram-shilas. As per traditions this took place on a full moon day of April or May 1542 and every year this event is celebrated with much enthusiasm. On that day the deity is offered a holy bath with milk and so many other incenses.

Radha Damodar Temple

Location

One among the important and popular temples of Vrindavan, Radha Damodar temple boasts of a rich legacy. This divine abode of Radha and Krishna was founded by Jiva Goswami. It is heard that the original deities of Radha and damodar were hand carved by Rupa Gosvami, a staunch disciple of Lord Krishna. He then gave the idols to his beloved follower, Jiva Gosvami, who later constructed a temple here. Now what we see in the sanctum is the replica of the original idols and hence it is called as the pratibhu-murti.
