Kamteswari temple

Location

Located around 8 km towards the west of the railway station of Dinhata, the present building of the Kamteswari temple is not the original one. The present version was erected in 1665 by Maharaja Pran Narayan after the older one was destroyed.

The temple has the Debi throne and has two other temples located at the back of the temple premise. The gate has a 'Tarakeswar Sivalinga' and the temple hosts a number of festivals on its premise like the Batha Festival of Debi.

Bamdev Shangha Ashram

Location

Bamdev Shangha Ashram is one of the main attractions offered by Tarapith. This Ashram is situated nearby Ma Tara temple, at a few yards away.

Bamdev Shangha Ashram houses the Samadhi of saint Bamakhepa, an ardent devotee of Ma Tara. He received blessings and divine powers from Ma Tara as a result of his deep penance. He resided at the cremation ground nearby the Ma Tara temple and became a spiritual leader among the masses.

Pilgrims to Ma Tara temple also visit Bamdev Shangha Ashram to offer special prayers to saint Bamakhepa.

Ramjew Temple

Location

Ramjew Temple, one of the ancient temples of Haldia, was found by Rani Janaki Devi. Initially, the temple featured beautiful sculptures of Lord Rama, her wife Sita, Lakshman accompanied by Hanuman. The idols went missing in the unfortunate event of theft that took place in 1967.

Thereafter, the idols of deity in brass were established in the shrine. The main temple has an elevation of 90 ft that is also known as Dewan House. Behind the temple, there is a Dubey Palace.
