Chapora Beach is a coastal village at Chapora River estuary lying alongside a beach stretch in North Goa that is around 10 km. from Mapusa, a City in Northern Goa. It is close to Chapora Fort, an old Portuguese fort. Chapora is also close to a trawler-fishing jetty.
The Chapora beach situated at around 10 kms from Mapusa in North Goa is one of the most interesting beaches of Goa. The picturesque beach with white sand and a number of coconut palms along its stretch is well known as the Chapora fort, one of the chief landmarks built by the Portuguese is situated nearby. The 500 year old Portugese Fort that makes Chapora so special is now something of a landmark in Chapora and a very proud pin for the locals.
