Swamimalai, literally "Mountain of the God", is a holy town located west of the Kumbakonam town, known for the famous Lord Muruga temple, one of the six holy abodes of Lord Muruga. The town is ideally located at a natural setting on the banks of the River Cauvery. The travelers to this place are mostly Hindu pilgrims intended to offer worship to Lord Muruga in Swaminathaswamy Temple.
