Sita Kund

Location

As the name suggests, Sita Kund has close connection with Sita Devi, Ram and Lakshman. Legend has it that, while returning from Lanka, Sita devi felt very thirsty and there were no water body in the near vicinity. Then Lakshman pricked an arrow on the earth from where there originated a fountain of water. This tank with the presence of a perennial spring is now called as the Sitakund and the devotees often take water from this holy tank, since they believe that it would not only quench their thirst but also purify their souls.

Sita Kund is one of the landmark destinations in this devout centre, which can be reached only after a steep plight of 48 steps. The nearby hillock houses the Durga devi temple. The temple, the kund and the majestic hills all together constitute a rare combination where the devotees can experience the presence of the supreme power.
