River Damodar has its origin in Chandwa village on the Chota Nagpur Plateau and flows eastward through the states of Jharkhand and West Bengal. The Damodar river passes through Kamarpukur before it confabulate with River Hooghly. It has a number of tributaries making the regions fertile and eye catching with lusting greeneries.
Damodar river flows through Kamarpukur is knitted well with the life of Sri Ramakrishna. Vidyasagar, the great admirer of Ramakrishna, had been crossing this river to meet Sri Ramakrishna and Mother. People in this place consider this river as a holy river and prefer to take holy dip.
