Several of tea estates and tea factories are located in and around Pattumala. Taking a nature ride here is quite pleasing. A beautiful flower garden, delight for nature lover, is also located at Pattumala.
The most fascinating thing of Peermade is its plantation area having cash crops, such as tea, cardamom and other spices. No wonder if one gets enthralled with its rich greenery and natural beauty while passing through the aromatic path of these plantation area.
It is believed that the waters of this natural spring, located in front of the old Sree Rama Temple here, is as sacred as the waters of the Ganges.
The view of the Sholayar Pass from the Nelliyampathy Hills is spell-binding and it simply takes your breath away.
Seethakundu waterfall is about 100 m high and offers great views of the valleys and the hills, and the vast areas of greenery surrounding it. Located 8 km from Nelliyampathy, a bird’s eye view of Palakkad can be seen from this spot. Besides Seethakundu, there are several other waterfalls, large and small, scattered around the forest regions of Nelliyampathy.
Apart from Seethakundu, Kesavanpara and Mampara are the other lookout points that provide spectacular views.
Seethargundu viewpoint is situated in the Western Ghats at Nelliyampathy at a distance of 8 km. This place is associated with Hindu mythology. It is believed that Ram, Lakshman and Sita rested here during their fourteen years exile. Seethargundu waterfall that flows from 100 ft gives a wonderful experience. This place gives a panoramic view of stone queries and paddy fields spread around resembling a green blanket.
Situated at a height of 5250 feet above sea level, Mampara peak or Raja's cliff offers spectacular views of the mountain ranges, green forests, reservoirs, and water falls. The terrain is very rough in most places and can be accessed by mountain jeeps and some places only by jungle paths.
Surrounded by a number of tea gardens, coffee estates and cardamom plantations, Mampara peak has some very beautiful scenery. There various wild animals such as elephants, giant squirrels, sambars and leopards that inhabit the adjoining hills. This forest also houses rare varieties of wild birds.
Mattupetti is notable for its Indo Swiss live farms, where many superior ranges of cattle are taken care and nurtured. Mattupetti Indo Swiss farm is open from morning to evening for the tourists to visit it.
This farm is well looked after, as it is abundantly rich in nature. In fact, it is believed to be the nature’s paradise with Mattupetti Lake being snuggled close on the Idukki hills, which is extraordinarily a nature opulent district of Kerala.
Mattupetti Dam: Mattupetti dam is approximately 13 km from Munnar in Kerala. This dam is situated at an altitude of 1700m above the sea level. This is highly famous for the Indo-Swiss live stock projects. This is a special place where we can see hundred ranges of high yielding cattle nurtured.
The tourists are permitted to see three cattle sheds at the farm out of the eleven cattle sheds. The Mattupetti dam as well the lake is at close proximity from the farm and is a very charming picnic spot.
