Takhat Sagar Lake

Location

Takhat Sagar Lake is situated near the Takhat Sagar Hills, which is about 10 kilometres away from the main city of Jodhpur. The secluded Siddhnath Shiv temple is situated between the Takhat Sagar Hills.

The isolated temple attracts a large number of devotees each year despite the poor road that connects the temple with the city. Takhat Sagar Lake can be considered as a part of the vast Kailana Lake. Takhat Sagar Lake is named after an erstwhile king of Jodhpur. Maharaja Takhat Singh was a king of Jodhpur in the 19th century. Kailana Lake was constructed during his time.

Gadi Sagar

Location

Gadi Sagar, a man made reservoir built in 1156 AD, is one of the most favorite tourist attraction in Jaisalmer. It was originally constructed by the King Jaisal and later it was reconstructed by Maharaja Garsi Singh in 1367 AD, making a new name 'Lake Garsisar'. During the Rajput clan period, it was the only resource for the drinking water in Jaisalmer.

The lake is marvelously placed in a picturesque surroundings and an imposing sandstone entrance known as Tilon-ki-Pol opens to the lake. A grand Krishna temple is also placed at the gate. The banks of the Gadi Sagar enclose superbly maintained gardens, temples and majestically carved Chattris.

Mool Sagar

Location

Mool Sagar, set up by Maharawal Mool Raj in 1780, is an eye pleasing picnic spot in Jaisalmer. The place is credited with a cute, compact but attractive palace, a breathtaking garden with varieties of blooming plants and a spectacular reservoir. A medieval period Shiva temple assumed to be carved out of a pair of sandstones is a popular religious attraction here.

Gaib Sagar Lake

Location

The famous places to see in Dungarpur include the Gaib Sagar Lake. Set amongst scenic environs, the lake is a bird watcher's paradise. The picturesque surroundings of the lake house numerous species of birds. Also situated along the lake is a famous Shrinathji temple. The temple complex has a number of beautifully built shrines inside it, with one being the main temple. One of them is the Vijay Raj Rajeshwar Temple that is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Nagar Sagar

Location

The Nagar Sagar is a set of twin step wells outside of the Choughan gate. These matching step wells have been crafted in immaculate stonework on each side of the main Bundi town.

The Nagar Sagar is known for its masonry work and was originally meant to be a well. It was constructed to provide the local people with water since Bundi is recognized as a drought prone area. The kunds or the pools, which are a typical feature of Bundi, are at present not used by people.

Nawal Sagar Lake

Location

The Nawal Sagar Lake is a big man made lake that can be seen from the Talagarh Fort. This lake has more than a few small islands. This lake is located in the middle of the city, and hence, one can get to see the reflection of the entire city in this lake. The mirror image of the entire city of Bundi falls on the serene waters of this lake making it a unique tourist destination.

Phool Sagar

Location

The Phool Sagar Lake derives its name from the Phool Mahal, which is a huge fortress that stands on its banks. The Phool Mahal or the Flower palace is a comparatively contemporary construction and was started in the year 1945 by the Maharaja Bahadur Singh.

Though, it was never finished and lies in a half-complete state, it is at present the dwelling place of the present day ‘ruler’ of the city. The palace is not open for visits and a prior permission of the secretary has to be obtained in order to take a stroll around the magnificent palatial premises.

Vengurla Rocks

Location

Also known as Burnt Islands, Vengurla rocks is on the south east of Vengurla. The rocks are bare without any vegetation and so got the name of Burnt Islands. In the past these rocks played a significant role for sea voyagers by helping them identify that they were approaching land soon.

Mochemad Beach

Location

The Mochemad village near Vengurla is beautifully placed in the arms of several green hills and a few mountains. This gives feeling of the village being placed inside a bowl and to top it off it has also been blessed with a Golden sand beach that stretches its clean sand for miles. The water is pure and clean. The coastline has been strewn with “Suru‿ tree plantations.
