Mangalore Beach

Location

Mangalore is placed at the confluence of the Netravathi and Gurupura rivers, forming the backwaters. One of the beaches in Mangalore, known as Tannirbavi Beach, is one of the nice beaches of Dakshina Kannada, which is famous for the imposing view of the sunset. Another beach offers solitude to visitors is Surathkal Beach.

Raja's Seat

Location

Raja’s Seat, literally meaning Seat of the King, is located at the western end of Madikeri and is a well maintained garden with a great views of the hills and the valley below and having a small pavilion inside.

According to legend, the kings of Kodagu spent the evenings here and also used this pavilion for relaxing from the tiring royal duties. But what's unforgettable about Raja's seat is the spectacular sunset that one can enjoy from this place. The beautiful sunset and the far stretching Blue Mountains will take ones breath away. This beautiful hilltop offers spectacular view of the Coorg Valley studded with paddy fields and forests.

Abbey Falls

Location

Located near to Madikeri, the main attraction of Madikeri, Abbey Falls is a breathtaking waterfall where the Kaveri river cascades down a rockface from a height of 70 feet. A hanging bridge has now been built across the gorge here offering a good view of the falls.

The falls can be reached by a narrow road from Madikeri. Cars can reach the entrance of these falls from where a downhill walk of 500 metres (on slightly paved steps) takes one to the waterfalls.

Mullaiyanagiri Peak

Location

Mullaiyanagiri hilltop, the highest peak in the state of Karnataka, has an overall height of 6,317 ft above sea level. Mullaiyanagiri is the highest mountain peak between the Himalayas and the Nilgiris and is to the north of Chikmagalur town. It is one of the peaks in the Baba-Budan Range, known anciently as Chandra Drona Parvatha.

Kumara Parvatha

Location

Kumara Parvata, a division of the Western Ghats, is one of the splendid peaks in Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka with a height of about 4,000 ft. It provides a great sight of lights of Somawarpet town, from the top of the Parvata. It stands as a imposing picturesque background to the Kukke Subrahmanya Swamy Temple.

Bisle Ghat

Location

Bisle near to Kukke Subrahmanya, a small cute village in the heartland of Western Ghats, comprises Bisle Reserve Forest, having to its the credit some of India's most special rain forests.

There is a location - Bisle Betta or Bisle view point, acclaimed as the beauty spot, from where one can vividly see the mountain ranges of Kumara Parvatha, Puspha Giri, Enni Kallu, Dodda Betta and Patta Betta. The characteristic of this point is that the panoramic scenic view has a valley wherein Giri river separates this niche spot and these mountain ranges.

The forest department has erected a camp here to sit and enjoy the enchanting view. Bisle Ghat is an ideal place for trek enthusiasts in Subrahmanya. The place is blessed with panoramic scenery.

Biladwara Cave

Location

Biladwara is a revered cave on the way from the Subrahmanya temple to the Kumaradhara river in Kukke Subrahnabya. According to Hindu mythology, the serpent God Vasuki was taking protection from Garuda in this cave and was making self-punishment.

The cave with naturally made entrance and an exit is about 10 meters in length. One can go into the cave and blessed with the view of the sacred cave of serpent Vasuki. Biladwara is effortlessly accessible place and the cave is superb and marvelous.

Kudremukh Peak

Location

Kudremukh peak, located as high as 1894 m above the sea level with forests covering the peak, is a perfect place for forest exploration. Kudremukh is trekker's paradise with the luxury of its flora and fauna in the offing to be explored. This peak, a well-known spot for the navigators, overlooks the Arabian sea showing the distant zenith as a beautifully crafted spot.

Hanuman Gundi Fallssaugat

Location

One of the main attractions close to Kudremukh is Hanuman Gundi waterfalls. The waterfalls, slashing down from a height of more than 100 feet falling onto natural rocks majestically, is an exciting scenery.

One can trek for some distance to get into the falls and to have body rejuvenating and refreshing bath. The forest department has constructed some nice and safe steps to get down into the falls for a nominal Rs 30/- per head. A calm and isolated destination, here one can enjoy the beauty of silence and marvel of the waterfalls.
