Kafota

Location

Situated at an elevation of 1,804 metres and 42 km. from Paonta on Jagadhari - Narkanda road is village Kafota which has a salubrious climate and holds potantial for picnic. There is a PWD Rest House for comfortable stay. 18 kms. from Paonta Sahib is Rajban Cement Factory. A few kms. from Rajban is Kamrau, the biggest village of Sirmaur district known for rich lime stone quarries. At this place there is a Tilordhar Tibetan Colony with its Buddisht monastery, but the most beautiful one is at Purnwala on way to Bhajain.

Rampur Bushehr

Location

Rampur Bushehr is the erstwhile capital of the Bushehr kingdom, located on the Sutlej River. The town has four temples (Raghunath, Ayodhya, Narsingh and Dumgir Budh). It also boasts of an old wooden Padam Palace. Rampur is just 52 kms from Narkanda and makes a good stopover on the long journey to Spiti.

Dhaula Kuan

Location

Located 20 km from Nahan, Dhaula Kuan is famous for an orchard full of citrus plants and mangoes, and a fruit canning factory of various kinds of juices, jams, pickles and canned fruits. There is also a research station in Dhaula Kaun where research on tropical fruits is carried out.

Triund

Triund, the name of a crest in the Dhauladar ranges in Himalaya, is a very famous tourist attraction located at the outskirts of Bhagsunath. This place gives a breathtaking view of the Moon peak-Indera Pass. This is a serene location ideal for camping of families. The unpolluted air and the unspoiled environment make this place an eco-friendly tourist spot.

17 km. from Dharamshala town, at an altitude of 2,827 metres. The snowline starts just 5 km. from Triund and affords a breathtaking view of the snows above and the valley below. It is a popular picnic and trekking spot. Those who want to do a return trek in one day are advised to start early. Is is the famous trek route for local people as well as for tourists.

Location

Situated on the bank of Paravati river, Kasol makes a good holiday destination. 42 kms from Kulu, charmingly located on an open space which slopes down to the broad expanse of clear white sand at the Parvati river. The place is well known for trout fishing.

Udaipur

Location

The village of Udaipur, in earlier times was known as Markul. It is because of this that the goddess of this place is known by the name of Markula Devi. A temple dedicated to this goddess is quiet famous in Lahaul because of the wooden carvings in it. The village is situated at the point where the Chenab and Mayar Nallah meet, hence it also becomes a starting point of the Mayar valley.

Shansha

Location

This is on the right bank of river Chandra-Bhaga (Chenab) at a distance of 27kms. from Keylong on Udaipur road. The Geypan, a powerful deity of Lahaul is believed to be born here. A shrine dedicated to the deity has also been built in this village.

Location

At an altitude of 3360 m, Darcha is ideal place for trekkers. You can start off trekking from here to Padem passing through Shingola as well as Baralacha/Phirtsela. It is around 24 km from Keylong and offers facilities for camping.
