The temple promotes ancient Hindu rituals and art forms. The thevaram hymns are sung devotionally while worshipping Lord Shiva. It is believed that hearing thevaram hymns relieve the devotees from life miseries. Thevaram shrine is one of the few temples in South India where Thevaram is recited.
