Sikkal Singaravelar Temple, also known as Sri Singaravelar Kaingarya Saba, is a popular temple in the tiny village Sikkal near to the temple town of Nagapattinam. This temple is run by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Board. The presiding deity in this temple is Singaravelar (Lord Muruga). Lord Navaneetheswarar (a form of Lord Shiva) with his consort Nedum Kanni Amman (Goddess Parvathi) are also installed in this temple.
Sikkal is considered as the place where Lord Muruga, known as Singaravelar, got his weapon Vel from his mother to kill the demon king Surapadman. It is believed that offering prayers at this temple helps the devotees to cure all diseases and gets good health. Also the temple deity has magical powers to eradicate all troubles faced by the devotees.
