Orang National Park

Location

Orang National Park was established in 1985 and was declared as a national park on 13th April 1999. It is called as mini Kaziranga National Park due to the similar landscape, including streams, grasslands and marshes. Along with the great Indian one-horned rhinoceros, the other animals that can be seen here are the pigmy hog, elephant, wild buffalo and tiger. It lies 72 km of Tezpur and is a home to wildlife such as one-horned rhinoceros, buffalo, leopard, barkinng dear, tiger and sambhar.

The park covers an area of about 78 sq. km and lies on the banks of the Brahmaputra River. Both the native and migratory birds, like the green-pigeon, Bengal florican, cormorant, greylag goose, large whistling teal and great adjutant stork can be seen here.
