Nellukadai Mariamman Koil is one of the famous Mariamman temples in Tamil Nadu. It is believed that Mariamman appeared in the dream of a rice trader and asked him to build a shrine for him. He constructed a beautiful temple in Nagapattinam and started offering prayers. Later this temple became very popular and the devotees believe that the Goddess here has extra miraculous powers.
People from all parts of Nagapattinam offer prayers at this temple. Devotees celebrate thiruvizha for the deity every year in this temple. The temple is open on all days and the religious rituals in this temple are very attractive.
