Location
Malikappurathamma temple is located on a small hillock on the left hand side of Lord Ayyappa temple. One can go to this temple from Ayyappa temple in just two minutes walk. There are many mythological stories about the relations between Lord Ayyappan and Devi Malikapurathamma.
Malikappurathamma temple is dedicated to Devi and one other temple dedicated to Kaduthaswamy is placed nearby. Devotees offer prayers to a trident and lamp in this place. Rolling coconuts through the floor is an important offering at this temple. Small shrines for serpent gods are also seen in the premises of malikapurathamma temple. Stringed instruments and drums are played here with songs dedicated to serpent gods at this place.
