Location
Thiruvairanikulam Mahadev Temple is located near to Kalady, south of Aluva in Ernakulam District. This temple is very famous as a Shiva temple. There is a separate temple dedicated to Goddess Parvati, the consort of Lord Shiva. The deity in this temple faces east.
The temple complex houses small shrines for Lord Ganesha, Lord Ayyappa and Lord Vishnu. The Parvati Srikoil, the sanctum sanctorum, opens only 12 days in a year. Huge numbers of devotees visit this Mahadeva temple during the Thiruvathira festival on these 12 days. It is believed that offering prayers during these days is auspicious for the devotees and their families.
