Langudi Hills

Location

Langudi Hill is a very old Buddhist site in Jajpur, in the state of Orissa. A tiny hill that runs north to south is devoid of shrubbery. The majestic river Kelua rambles across the hills and the scenic scenery of a River flowing against the backdrop of hills and plains is really fantastic.

A main attraction of the Langudi hill is the 34 rock-cut Buddhist stupas situate on the northern part of the hill. This hill is the home to eastern India’s oldest Ashoka stupa, which is mentioned it as the Pushagiri Mahavihar by the famous Chinese traveler Heun Tsang. Numerous Buddhist caves, dilapidated rock-cut Buddhist stupas and ruined monasteries found near the hill makes it a favourite site of tourists.
