Upasani Maharaj Ashram

Location

The Upasani Maharaj Ashram is situated off the Shirdi-Ahmednagar State Highway. It is the ashram of a great saint of the 20th century. Upasani Maharaj was an ardent disciple of Shri Sai Baba.

The Ashram of Upasani Maharaj is near Shirdi. There were three spiritual heirs of the Maharaj. The samadhi of the Maharaj and the samadhi of one of his disciples is placed inside the ashram. Upasani Majaraj is considered a perfect master. One of his disciples Avtar Mehar Baba called Upasani Maharaj the best and the perfect master.

Shri Sai Baba Sansthan

Location

Shri Sai Baba Sansthan is the ruling and administrative body of Shri Saibaba’s Samadhi. They are also in charge of all other temples in the premises of the Sansthan. The governing body is devoted towards the development of Shirdi village.

The Sansthan is the authorised body which controls and manages the day to day actions of the Shri Saibaba Samadhi Temple.

Shri Devi Bhagwati Mandir

Location

A magnificent temple located inside the massive Ratnadurg Fort, Bhagwati Mandir is a famous pilgrim center in Ratnagiri. Bhagavadti Temple is one among the ancient temples in the state of Maharashtra.

The deity is adorned beautifully and the temple architecture is marvelous. Other deities like 'Veer Vignesh' & 'Ashtadashbhuj' Ganapati are unique for their sculptural works. This temple is crowded with devotees during Navratri festival, which is one of the sacred festivals celebrated all over India. In Devi Bhagavathi temple, Navarathri festival is celebrated with much enthusiasm and vigour and big yatras are conducted as a part of the festival.

Shiva Temple

Location

This ancient Shiva temple is located to the west of the reservoir. The architecture of the temple is in the typical Hemdpanti style. The temple has been clogged with silt draining down from the hills but in recent years attempts have been made to clear the silt.

Ballaleshwar Ganpati

Location

Named after Ballal, son of Kalyan Shreshthi, from whose `tapasya', Ganesh appeared at pali. The deity is known as Ballaleshwar. Erlier the deity was placed in a wooden temple. The wooden temple was so constructed that the rays of the sun would fall directly on the deity from the two equinoxes of the temple. The temple was reconstructed in 1770 by Morobadada Phadanvis.

The Ganesh idol in the temple is 3 ft. high. Behind the temple, another temple of Ganesh, known as Dhundi Vinayak is situated. The Peshwas had installed the big bell, in the temple which is of Portuguese make. Nearby Pali is Sudhagad which is famous for its hot springs.

Jagadishwar Temple

Location

Sivaji was an ardent follower of the Hindu religion. Jagadishwar temple built in his royal palace is a clear proof of his devotion. History says that Sivaji used to visit this temple daily.

The dome at the top of the temple is the reflection of the mughal architecture of that time. The main deity is a Jagadeeswara idol, which inspires the devotee for its uniqueness. The temple holds an idol of Nandi outside, facing the entrance of the temple.

Once adorned the status of the favourite shrine of the sovereign, Jagadishwara temple is now in a decrepit state.

Varad Vinayak Ganpati

Location

Knwon as Varad Vinayak, the temple is in Mahad village of Raigad district. A Ganesh devotee named Paundkar found this idol in a lake near the temple, three hundred and seventy five years back. The original temple is now enlarged. A spacious audience hall is built within the temple. The lamp before the deity is kept lit uninterruptedly for hundred years or so.
