Kalikoh Temple

Location

With great mythological importance the Mahakali temple in the Vindhya mountains ranges attracts scores of pilgrims each year. Placed in a cave in the top of the hill this temple embellishes the goddess as the Kali incarnation, which is believed to be the most powerful manifestation of female power. Thick woods and beautiful streams attribute a majestic look to the holy premises of the temple.

Sita Kund

Location

As the name suggests, Sita Kund has close connection with Sita Devi, Ram and Lakshman. Legend has it that, while returning from Lanka, Sita devi felt very thirsty and there were no water body in the near vicinity. Then Lakshman pricked an arrow on the earth from where there originated a fountain of water. This tank with the presence of a perennial spring is now called as the Sitakund and the devotees often take water from this holy tank, since they believe that it would not only quench their thirst but also purify their souls.

Vindhyavasini Devi Temple

Location

Aptly located on the holy banks of the river Ganga, Vindhyavasini Devi Temple in Vindhyachal, is one among the popular sakthipeeths where the Goddess Kali is adorned in the form of Vindhyavasini Devi.. Popularly called as the Kajala devi the presiding deity in the temple is considered as the embodiment of love and benediction. This temple has found its rendering in the holy scriptures of Hindu religion and it has got a tremendous impact in the life of a devout Hindu.

The temple often witnesses large gathering and it became an human ocean on the eve of Nvarathri festival which falls in the month of April and October. During the month of June, the premises witnesses kajali competition in which large number of people took part.

Ashtabhuji Devi Temple

Location

A lovely temple atop of Vindhya mountain, Ashtabhuja Devi Temple in Vindhyachal boast of a fabulous legend. It is believed that the girl child born to Devaki and Vasudevar had miraculously escaped from the clutches of Kamsa and settled here as the embodiment of shakthi in these mountain ranges. This temple in her name is located in a cave in the small hummock of the Vindhya ranges and is considered as the incarnation of Goddess Parvathi Devi.

Tulsi Manas Temple

Location

This temple is dedicated to Lord Rama. The temple is built in the place where Goswami Tulsidas composed the epic 'Ramacharitramanas' which provides us with detailed description of the history and deeds of Lord Rama. Tulsi Manas Temple was constructed by a philanthropist family in 1964.

Tulsi Manas Temple, a fairly modern temple built in marble rocks, is located near to famous Durga temple in Varanasi. The temple, constructed in 1964, is dedicated to Lord Ram and the temple is given the name of Tulsi Das, the great saint poet of 16th century.

The temple construction was a specimen of Shikhara style and was founded by a philanthropist family in Varanasi. The temple walls are adorned with many inscriptions displaying the stories from Ram Charit Manas, the great work by Tulsi Das.

St. Mary's Church

Location

Situated in the cantonment area of Benaras (Varanasi) the St. Mary's Church has a low tower, spire and projecting poitico. Instead of windows tile, church has louvred doors to the sides and hooded ventilation slots beneath the cornice. The flank elevations have divided pilasters into seven bays. The two outer bays have blind door cases, enriched with blocked surrounds and Keystones in the manner of Gibbs.

New Vishwanath Temple (Birla Temple)

Location

New Vishwanath Temple, also popularly known as the Golden Temple, is situated in the campus of Banares Hindu University (BHU). The temple is built by the Birla family and hence it is also known as Birla temple. Dedicated to Lord Shiva the temple is a replica of the original Vishwanath temple that was destroyed by Aurangazeb. The temole was planned by Pandit Malaviya who was a great nationalist and wanted to have a temple open to all people irrespective of the caste or religion. The white marble temple has a Shiva lingam and verses from Hindu scriptures inscribed on its walls.

This new Vishwanath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is having the similar structure of Kashi Vishwanath temple. The temple a marvel in marbles is designed by the founder of BHU Madan Mohan Malavya.

Nepali Temple

Location

The King of Nepal had built this temple on Lalita ghat in Nepali style. The Nepali temple is also called the 'Kathwala temple'. The temple has some magnificent woodwork. Tourist from all over the world come just to see this temple which has no comparison with any other temple in India.

The workers who carved this temple out were brought from Nepal. The wood used in the temple is also found in Nepal. The speciality of this wood is that termites do not eat this wood.
