Om Parvat

Location

OM Parvat (also known as Adi Kailash, Little Kailash, Jonglingkong Peak, Baba Kailash, Chhota Kailash) is an ancient holy Hindu mountain in the Himalayan mountain range, lying in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand, India, near Sinla pass. Its appearance is distinctly similar to Mount Kailash in Tibet. In addition, its snow deposition pattern gives the impression of the Hindu sacred syllable 'AUM' (ॐ) written on it. This majestic letter ॐ clearly stands out when the snow starts melting at the end of the winter season.

Surkanda Devistrong Temple

Location

Surkanda Devi Temple is situated 3000 mt. high from sea lable, Surkanda is the form of Devi Parvati, this temple is famous in the Garhwal, the view of outer Himalaya range majastic from here, Nanda Devi Peak, Chokhamba peak, Shivling etc. view from here. Surkanda Devi temple is one of the most important Goddess temple of the Garhwal region. It is located 8km from Dhanaulti. The deity of Surkanda Devi is Goddess Sati – Wife of Lord Shiva. This sacred temple is set at an astounding altitude of 3030mts above sea level near Dhanaulti.

Chandrabadani Devi

Location

The sacred shrine on Chandrabadani mountain is 10 kms from Kandikhal, about 22 kms. from Devaprayag. Legends suggest that the torso of Goddess Sati, the consort of Lord Shiva fell here. There are some old statues and lots of iron trishuls (tridents) outside the temple. A fine view of the Sirkanda, Kedarnath and Badrinath peaks can be enjoyed from here.

Raghunathji Temple

Location

The great temple of Raghunathji is claimed to have been erected some 10000 years ago. It is built of massive uncemented stones, standing upon a terrace in the upper part of the town consisting of an irregular pyramid capped by a white cupola with a golden ball and spire. The shrine was destroyed during an earthquake in 1803, and was later rebuilt with the support of Daulat Rao Scindia.

According to a local legend, Lord Rama worshipped here after his victory over Lanka. The temple compound also hosts Annapurna Devi Temple, Hanuman Temple, Shankaracharya Temple and Garud Temple.

Mindrolling Monastery

Location

Mindrolling, which means "Place of Perfect Emancipation" in Tibetan language, is a renowned monastery of the Nyingma sect. Rigzin Tendak Lingpa established it in 1676. This monastery witnessed numerous attacks and natural calamities and its present structure is the contribution of Khochhen Rinpoche. Mindrolling Monastery is one of the largest Buddhist Viharas in India, which exhibits architectural marvel.
