Kaithal, located near the Bidkiar Lake, as an important town during Akbar’s rule. The town was once considered a stronghold of the Shaivites and even today there are 108 Shiva temples. It is said to have been founded by Yudhishthira. It is also associated with the first woman ruler of India, Razia Begum. It is known for intensive cultivation of Rice and wheat with a well developed irrigation infrastructure.
