One of the oldest monasteries of the valley; famous for the big statue of Guru Padmasamhava and a huge library. Tayul Gompa is 6 kms. from Keylong and is one of the oldest monasteries of the valley. It has a big statue of Guru Padmasamhava rising about 5 m high and houses library of Kangyur having 101 volumes. The monastery is located around 6 km from Keylong and is counted amongst the oldest monasteries in the Lahaul valley. The highlight of the monastery is a 5 feet tall statue of Guru Padmasmbhava and a library of Kangyur (101 volumes). Ta- Yul, in the Tibetan language means the chosen place.
