Sri Sri Joybhum Kamakhya Temple

Among 51 ‘Sakti Sthal’ of Hinduism, Sri Sri Joybhum Kamakhya Temple is a major one nestled in the bank of River Brahmaputra, located at a distance of around 50 km. from Goalpara Town. The earthquake happened in the 17th century caused major devastation of the temple. However, the temple was entirely reconstructed with the initiative of the Zamindar of Meshpara, who also introduced regular puja system. According to the available records, the temple possesses Debbottor Land, spanning an area of 28 bighas. There is also a temple of Lord Shiva built near the Joybhum Kamakhya Temple. Thousands of devotees assemble at the temple during the celebration of annual festival in the month of October.
